The Real Estate Licensing Roadmap

The Real Estate profession falls within a highly regulated industry. As such, there are standardized examinations that all applicants must complete with a minimum grade of 75%.  there are the three components to becoming and remaining a Real Estate Agent in Ontario.

The full time program at OREA can take up to 18 months and many must wait a time for space to be available and the cycle to repeat itself.

OREA Pre Registration Courses

Anyone who wants to start the real estate courses should have a Canadian high school diploma or could write the admission test (Entrance Exam). We help our students pass this entrance exam FREE of charge if they register with us for Course 1. They need to get at least 50% mark and we rarely have someone failing this exam, after using our help. After this they are admitted to the college and became students;

The segment before licensing is called Pre-Registration and students should pass three courses

Real Estate as a Professional Career

This course will provide a general overview of the real estate profession and how it interacts with other elements of our society.

The students will be introduced to topics that will provide an overview of how the real estate profession works and what skills will be required, the importance of economics, demographics and geography on real estate values, consumer buying habits and marketing methods as well as a basic overview of mathematical techniques.

Land Structures and Real Estate Trading

This course will provide a general overview of how land and property is registered, how ownership occurs, municipal planning and land use regulations, key elements in the construction of homes and buildings, process of determining the value of a property, process of trading in real estate, Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 and representation and agency relationships.

OREA Articling Courses

After students get their licence for their first two years in business, they are considered in the Articling Segment. They have to pass three courses to be able to renew their licence at the end of the Articling Period.

Commercial Property

Students will have completed The Real Estate Transaction-General plus one of either The Residential Real Estate Transaction or The Commercial Real Estate Transaction. This course is not to be completed in the Pre-registration Segment. Students must now complete the remaining course as part of the mandatory Articling Segment.

Become a Real Estate Broker

After passing all courses, Realtors can renew their licence. They can get Mentoring Courses to get ready for real life real estate challenges. Also, if they want to change their title from Sales Representative to Broker, they should pass two more courses.

Principles of Mortgage Financing

The students will be provided with an understanding of increasingly sophisticated demands of commercial real estate clients and investors, understanding of the mortgage market and gain hands-on exposure to forms, applications, and mortgage calculations.
